Garden Salad

Lettuce

Cucumber

Cherry tomatoes

Carrots

Plus any other preferred salad ingredients for example:-

Peppers, courgettes, salad onions, salad cress, mushrooms.

For this recipe the children grew their own vegetables. Of course, this is optional and takes a lot longer for the dish to be served(!) but they had great fun doing it and they found it was far more rewarding to eat something they had grown themselves.

(And it tasted better!)

Method

1. Put on an apron and wash your hands.

2. Pull the leaves off the lettuce.  Rinse well and shake them dry, then tear them into pieces. Put the lettuce leaves in a bowl

3. Slice the cucumber finely and cut the tomatoes in half, add to salad bowl.

4. Peel the carrots and coarsely grate them, add to salad bowl.

5. Prepare any other salad ingredients chosen and cut into small pieces.

6. Add to salad bowl and gently mix everything together.

7. Place the salad in the fridge until ready to eat.
